I-84: Benson Creek and Moores Hollow Interchange Bridges

Construction Phase

Region 5: Eastern Oregon (Malheur)


​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Repair bridges to correct damage from water and erosion. Project will extend the life of the bridges and improve safety.​


Impacts

Traffic Impact

At Exit 353 for U.S. Highway 30 (Farewell Bend Exit):
  • ​The left lane is closed in each direction with a crossover to the eastbound side.
At Exit 362 for Moores Hollow Road:
  • The left lane is closed in each direction.

Schedule

Through April:

The contractor is excavating along the ends of the bridges and removing bridge rails.

Crews are working Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Image of bridge end panels.​Significant erosion at these bridges requires repairs. We will replace bridge approach slabs that are in poor condition and have failed connections. (See photo to the right.)


Slope reinforcements under bridges are undermined, collapsing and soil is eroding onto the roadway under the structures due to leaking joints. We will repair or replace these damaged slopes. (See photos below.)

Repairs will be made to the eastbound and westbound interstate bridges at both locations.
