Project-Details

I-84: Rieth Interchange and Umatilla River Bridges

Design Phase

Region 5: Eastern Oregon (Umatilla)

We will repair four bridges. Work includes repairing deck surfaces and approaches, and installing new joints. These repairs will extend the life of the structures.

Impacts

Traffic Impact

No traffic impacts at this time.

Construction Impacts

To prepare for and safely accommodate work on the bridges in 2027, we will construct crossovers in 2026.
  • Crossovers reduce traffic to a single lane in each direction by shifting traffic from one side of a divided road to the other side that is not under construction.
  • Crossovers protect workers from live traffic, reduce conflicts by giving workers more room and require fewer setups and removals of traffic control devices during construction.

Schedule

The project has been awarded. Schedule will be available soon.
Construction is anticipated to begin late summer to build traffic crossovers. Bridge repairs will take place in 2027.
