About

The existing pavement in this section of I-5 is damaged. The driving surface is rapidly cracking and will continue to do so to the point where our maintenance crews won't be able to repair.

For this project, we'll:

  • Remove the existing pavement and repave.
  • Add new permanent striping.
  • Add back in the existing shoulder rumble strips.
  • Repair bridge surfaces and joints as needed.
  • Repair or replace guardrail.

This work will help extend the road and bridges' useful life and give travelers a smoother ride. Adding shoulder rumble strips alerts inattentive or drowsy drivers that they've drifted out of their lane.
