We will install light poles and lighting on existing foundations to improve visibility and safety during inclement weather.

Schedule

Construction is scheduled to begin June 8.

Crews will:

Start with setting up traffic control.
Begin working on Cabbage Hill, westbound.

Project is expected to be completed by September.

About

Cabbage Hill and Ladd Canyon on I-84 have a history of truck and passenger vehicle crashes during inclement weather. Previous projects installed infrastructure for additional lighting but were not completed due to funding limitations.

For this project, we will install up to eleven poles on Cabbage Hill and up to forty on Ladd Canyon.

Location

I-84 |

Cabbage Hill, westbound, mileposts 220 to 223 (Umatilla County).
Ladd Canyon, east and westbound, mileposts 270.5 to 272 (Union County).

Cost and Funding

The estimated project cost through construction is $1 million.
