About

The U.S. 101 bridge going over Cummins Creek is next to Neptune Beach. Being on the coast, the steel reinforcement inside the concrete bridge can get damaged from exposure to harsh winds and saltwater.

The current system on the bridge that helps prevent the steel reinforcement in the concrete from rusting is over 20 years old. This system is called cathodic protection and it needs to be replaced.

To do this, we're applying a zinc corrosion protection treatment to the concrete surfaces. During construction, it'll look like we're painting the bridge. This work will help preserve and protect it for years to come.

We're planning to build and will have a better idea about the construction schedule and cost as we get further into design.
