​​​​​​​We will upgrade curb ramps in Baker and Union counties to meet Americans with Disabilities Act standards.​

​Project design 2024-2026. Designed under project K22754.
Sidewalk drilling took place Monday, Dec. 29, 2025.
Hazmat soil sampling was completed the week of March 2, 2026.
Project bid date has changed from March 2026 to June 2026.
Expected construction 2026-2027.​

About

​​We are upgrading curb ramps in Baker and Union counties as part of a larger effort to meet current ADA standards.

These improvements mean increased safety and more seamless access for people who walk, bike or roll.
Benefits include:
  • Upgrades to existing curb ramps and pedestrian signals.
  • New ADA-compliant curb ramps and pedestrian signals where there are none.

  • OR 410 (Sumpter Highway) – SW Austin Street.
La Grande:
  • OR 82 (Island Avenue) – Adams Avenue to I-84 westbound on-/off-ramps.
  • U.S. 30 (Adams Ave.) – Walnut Street to Gekeler Lane.
Haines:
  • ​​U.S. 30 (Front Street) – Second Street to Fifth Street.
Other locations to be announced.

Cost and Funding

The estimated construction cost is $7.5 million.
