About

enlarged project map iconOR 22 runs through the communities of Gates and Idanha. The highway can act as a barrier for people walking between stores as they're shopping, getting to essential services or school.

With this project, we plan to design and construct enhanced crossings at key locations along OR 22 in both communities to help reduce the risk of pedestrian related fatal and serious injury crashes.

Enhanced crossings may include:

  • Upgrading the curb ramps to meet current ADA standards.
  • Median refuge islands to create a safer space for pedestrians to wait as they cross OR 22.
  • Pedestrian activated rectangular rapid flashing beacons that alert drivers that someone is using the crosswalk.
  • Adding street lighting.

We're in the process of investigating the best location for enhanced crossings in each community.
