U.S. 101B: Old Youngs Bay Bridge Maintenance Repairs

​​​​​​​We're replacing some of the wooden parts of the bridge that have deteriorated. ​

Traffic Impact

You can expect crews working during the day with single lane closures Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Construction Impacts

You can expect:

  • Crews working mostly during the daytime.
  • Single lane closures Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Possible nighttime single lane closures as needed, 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Up to four full daytime bridge closures with detours during the project. 
  • Construction noise and delays.

In the event of high or king tides, crews may need to switch to night work to stay on schedule. Please use caution when driving through the area.

Plan ahead for full daytime closures in early 2026

You can expect the first set of closures in mid-January 2026 and the second to happen in early February. During the closures, you can expect:

  • The Old Youngs Bay Bridge to close from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. 
  • A signed detour around the closure using the U.S. 101 New Youngs Bay Bridge.

About

U.S. 101B is frequently used by residents and tourists traveling in and around the Astoria and Warrenton areas.  

We're making repairs to the Old Youngs Bay Bridge by: 

  • Replacing about four timber support beams under the bridge, also called a cap. 
  • Replacing one timber foundation support posts under the bridge, also called a pile.
