Pedestrians, including those with disabilities, will have access through or around work zones.

enlarged project map iconThe current pedestrian crossing for the Banks School District isn't in an ideal place and needs to be moved.  There are safety concerns about the existing crosswalk due to the proximity of vehicles entering or exiting the Banks Middle School parking lot.

We'll relocate the pedestrian crossing to a safe location and add features that will provide greater visibility for students.

To make the area safer for pedestrians, we'll:

  • Relocate the crossing north of its current location to be in front of the District office.

  • Install pedestrian bulb outs, which extend the sidewalk out into the road and shortens the distance to cross.

  • Install a rectangular rapid flashing beacon to warn vehicles that pedestrians are crossing the road.

  • Install improved overhead lighting for better visibility of cars and pedestrians in the crossing area.

  • Install enhanced striping to make the lanes and crossing area more visible.
