OR 47: Messing Creek Culvert Replacement (Mist)

We're constructing a new culvert for Messing Creek in Mist to improve road drainage and fish passage.

Impacts

Traffic Impact

None at this time. When we return in mid-January, expect to see crews during the day with single lane closures as needed. Use caution when traveling through the area.

Construction Impacts

OR 47 is open to traffic and pedestrians.

When we return in mid-January, you can expect:

Single lane closures while crews are working with flaggers directing traffic.
Crews working during the day from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Construction noise and delays.

Construction Activities

None at this time. We'll return in mid-January to finish paving.

Pay attention in the work zone, slow down and move over – imagine this is where you work!

Always drive safely, watch for construction signs and workers.

Remember: fines double in all Oregon work zones, whether workers and signs are present or not.

About

A storm in January 2022 caused Messing Creek to flood and washed out the culvert at milepost 11.6. We installed a temporary fix until we could design something permanent.

We're building a new culvert to support the river crossing.

This will improve fish passage through the area while making it safer for vehicles and pedestrians to use the road.

Past Meetings and Events

Thank you to those who were able to join us for our community Q&A session at Mist Grade School on Aug. 29, 2024. We shared information about the upcoming project, the expected detour route and had staff available to answer questions.
