About

enlarged project map iconOur goal is to find practical, community-supported improvements that make it safer and easier for people to walk, bike, and roll along and across this busy highway corridor.

Improvements may include new or upgraded crossings, bike lanes and better connections for people on foot or on wheels.

We'll also look at specific locations, like the area near Otis Café and Surfwood Manor Apartments, where safer crossing options are needed most.

Why are we doing this work?

U.S. 101 is a state highway, which means changes require coordination with Lincoln City. By studying this corridor now, we can identify the right improvements before future road projects are planned so we're ready to act when funding and opportunities arise.

That might mean upgrading an existing crossing to current safety standards, adding bike lanes as part of a road redesign, or establishing new enhanced crossings at high-need locations. Defining these priorities now helps us make the most of limited resources and pursue grant funding as it becomes available.

We’re looking at:

  • If we can add bike lanes to U.S. 101 at this location, with extra space between bikes and traffic to increase safety and comfort for bicyclists.
  • If we can add enhanced pedestrian crossings near milepost 117.63, Otis Café and Surfwood Manor Apartments.
  • What it would take to bring the existing crossing at U.S. 101 and 50th Street up to current standards.
  • What routes matter most to people biking and walking in Taft.
