Superintendent  Casey Codding

Thank you for your interest in the Department of Oregon State Police and our beautiful state.  Oregon is known for its diverse regions of beaches, mountains, forests, and high deserts.  Residents and visitors alike treasure Oregon's abundance of recreational and scenic opportunities.
The members of the Oregon State Police cherish our role in our state's public safety system, with the collaborative goals of enhancing livability while protecting the people, property, and natural resources of Oregon.  The Oregon State Police is a full-service law enforcement agency, rich in traditions of service, integrity, and professionalism.
Superintendent Casey Codding, appointed by the Governor as the 15th Superintendent of the Oregon State Police, began his career serving Oregon as an OSP Cadet in 1996 and has over 26 years of Law Enforcement experience with the agency. Now as the Superintendent, Casey commands more than 1,400 Troopers, investigators, and professional staff, who provide a full range of policing and public safety services to Oregon and other Law Enforcement agencies in the State.

Born and raised in Oregon, along with his wife and two daughters, he has embraced the love of all outdoor activities and the diversity that Oregon offers including hiking, fishing, skiing, and cross-state motorcycle trips.

As a prominent leader in law enforcement, Superintendent Codding holds firm to the values and mission set forth by OSP, to serve all people, and safeguard our communities, property, and natural resources while building upon a diverse, professional workforce.  From a Cadet, he was hired as an OSP Trooper and served in our Patrol Service Division for over 8 years, which included years in Crash Reconstruction, Special Operations, and Field Training.  After two years in the Criminal Division, and time as a Patrol Sergeant, Casey was then promoted through the ranks and held positions such as Special Operations Lieutenant, Region Captain, Operations Bureau Major, and Deputy Superintendent.  Throughout his years of service, he has gained extensive experience managing critical incident investigations, advancing officer training, and management of agency operation projects as well as receiving many awards including Excellence in Leadership and the Herald Berg Lifesaving award.

Over his career, he continually stays actively engaged with the communities he serves, seeking opportunities for community outreach, and leading the agency toward building community partnerships, problem-solving, and prevention.  He remains involved in departmental programs with the focus of providing the highest level of safety and service to the people of Oregon.

Thank you for browsing through the web pages of the Oregon State Police. We´re very excited about the opportunities that the internet allows us. These pages offer a glimpse into the various services we provide and hopefully will create a better understanding of who we are.  We do not intend this to be one-way communication, therefore it is our desire that you send us your comments and perhaps respond to surveys that our departments may have online.
