The IWRS Update
Oregon's IWRS provides a statewide inter-agency framework for better understanding and meeting Oregon’s instream and out-of-stream water needs. Oregon’s Water Resources Commission adopted the first IWRS in 2012 and the second in 2017. Oregon Revised Statute (536.220) requires that the IWRS is updated every 5 years.
OWRD is leading the process to update the IWRS in 2023 and is partnering with Oregon’s Kitchen Table, a program of the National Policy Consensus Center at Portland State University. Oregon’s Kitchen Table specializes in community engagement, particularly focused on communities who have not been engaged with in the past.

How Can You Get Involved?
The OWRD IWRS website will be updated with links to the survey and information about the community events later this year. You can also sign up at Oregon's Kitchen's Table to get notified about the survey, activities, and events here.
Are you interested in hosting one of your own conversations?
Community conversations are happening in many formats in different parts of the state in addition to these scheduled regional conversations. These include conversations with youth groups, culturally specific conversations organized and led by community organizers, conversations connected to different community events and festivals, and self-organized conversations hosted in people's own spaces. If you want to host a conversation with your community, download the Kitchen Table Conversation Guide here: bit.ly/water-conversation-guide.
Are you interested in attending one of our conversations?
Oregon’s Kitchen Table will be facilitating 7 Regional Community Conversations, located across the state. We will be joined by staff from other state agencies to hear from you about your current water challenges, potential solutions, and ways to continue our dialogue about water.
