Continuing Education Requirements for Principal Broker

Please note: House Bill (HB) 3137 takes effect on January 1, 2026. To meet the new continuing education requirements, all licensees must complete a 2-hour Fair Housing course. As a result, the required hours for the Law and Rule Required Course and Advanced Practices courses have been adjusted accordingly.

  1. ​Take these courses from Certified Continuing Education Providers:
    • 2-hour Fair Housing Course
    • 2-hour or 3-hour Law and Rule Required Course
  2. Take the 26-hour or 27-hour Principal Broker Advanced Practices Course from an approved provider
  3. Enter the continuing education class information into eLicense.
  4. Renew your license.
  5. Keep your certificates of attendance for 3 years.

  1. ​​​Take these courses from Certified Continuing Education Providers:
    • 3-hour Law and Rule Required Course (LARRC). ​
    • A minimum of 27 additional hours of continuing education in required topics.
  2. Enter continuing education course information into eLicense.
  3. Renew your license in eLicense.
  4. Keep your certificates of attendance for 3 years.

  1. Take the 2-hour or 3-hour Law and Rule Required Course from Certified Continuing Educati​on Providers
  2. Take the 2-hour Fair Housing Course from Certified Continuing Education Providers
  3. Take additional continuing education hours from Certified Continuing Education Providers to reach a minimum of 30 total hours.
  4. Enter continuing education class information into eLicense 
  5. Renew your license
  6. Keep your certificates of attendance for 3 years

​​No continuing education is needed. Before you can activate your license you must meet the applicable continuing education requirements.​​​​​​

  1. ​​​​Take these courses from Certified Continuing Education Providers within 2 years before reactivation​:
    • 3-hour Law and Rule Required Course (LARRC). ​
    • A minimum of 27 additional hours of continuing education in required topics.
      If you are reactivating your license for the first time after an inactive first renewal, you must take the 27-hour Principal Broker Advanced Practices (PBAP) course from an approved provider
  2. If you have been inactive for more than 2 years, take the Reactivation Exam.
  3. Reactivate your license in eLicense.​​
  4. Keep your certificates of attendance for 3 years.
