Last month, Treasurer Steiner took her community tour to Eugene and Springfield, visiting a personal finance class at Springfield High School, financial wellness teams at Lane Community College and the University of Oregon, and partners at SELCO Community Credit Union, among others.
Each stop highlighted the different financial realities people are encountering in their daily lives. For example, high schoolers are learning how to build credit for the first time. Whereas college students are navigating loans and living costs. In contrast community members that are mid-career are balancing childcare expenses, grocery bills, and savings goals. There was one thread connecting every conversation: financial education is a lifelong endeavor.
This month, Treasurer Steiner will take her community tour to Astoria and the north coast of Oregon to continue the conversation about financial wellness.
