Bentley V8i Upgrade Project
Description
 
ODOT has been using MicroStation V8 since 2003, with only a minor upgrade to MicroStation V8.5 in 2005. This project will upgrade InRoads to V8i SS2, and MicroStation and other Bentley applications to V8i SS3, which is compatible with Windows 7. The project will also test and mitigate ODOT required software that functions as vertical applications, within the MicroStation environment. 
 
The project will coordinate the testing of additional applications, used by engineers and other professionals, which have been designated as analysis software.  This last testing is necessary due to the pending upgrade of the OS software used on ODOT computers.  Mitigation of applications that fail this testing will be left to another project, facilitated by the owner or manager of the software.

Schedule


For the Bentley Upgrade project, the Pilot Testing will commence in September.  In October we will expand the Pilot Testing, rolling out to the Bentley users in Region 3.  The official rollout will continue in Region 1, from November into January.  Salem/Region2 follows the remainder of January through March, with Regions 4 and 5 wrapping up the rollout, in April and May, respectively. 

 

Training

 
The MicroStation interface has undergone a significant change from the current version ODOT is using to V8i SS2. There is an expectation that internal users of the application will participate in training that will be given during the rollout, at various locations throughout the state.
InRoads will be configured to use the new interface as well. With increased integration between MicroStation and InRoads, added functionality, and the dramatic changes to both interfaces, we expect the ODOT InRoads users will attend both MicroStation and InRoads training.


Where space is available in our Upgrade Training, we will invite Consultant/Outside Agency participation.
