Interchange Design
About Us
 
The Interchange Engineering staff provides statewide guidance concerning interchanges layouts, interchange design, and Interchange Modification Requests.  Responsibilities include developing interchange design standards, administering the Standard Interchange Layout Sheet, and processing Interchange Modification Requests on the Interstate System required by the Federal Highway Administration.

Programs
Interchange Modification Requests (IMR)
 
Roadway Engineering submits formal requests to the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) regarding modifications or additions to the Interstate System.

Layout Sheets
 
Interchange Layout Sheets are required for all new or revised interchanges.  Roadway Engineering is responsible for preparing or overseeing the preparation of the Interchange Layout Sheet.

Training
 
Roadway Engineering has developed an Interchange Design Class.  The content of that training is currently being updated.  Please check the HR website for scheduled sessions.  Technical Support is available by contacting one of the Interchange Engineers.
