Programs & Visiting Locations

Each of the hospital's five treatment programs (Archways, Pathways, Bridges, Crossroads and Springs) has specific visitation locations including visiting rules and hours.

General Information

Visitors must call the unit to make an appointment.

All visitors must be approved by the patient, his or her treatment team and Oregon State Hospital's Security Department. Before your first visit, you must submit a visitor application and have it approved. Approved visits take place in the Harbors building dining room during scheduled times.

Dining

​A family dining room is available. You can reserve it for special occasions such as holidays or birthdays.

Harbors Building

​The Harbors building is home to the four Archways units - Anchor 2, Anchor 3, Lighthouse 2 and Lighthouse 3. These units have been designed to provide a safe and therapeutic environment that will allow patients to stabilize and move to the next level of care.

Visits take place in the Harbors building dining room (or specified area).

Trails Building

​The Trails building is home to the three Pathways units – Tree 2, Tree 3 and Leaf 3. These units have been designed to provide treatment opportunities for patients to learn and practice the skills they need to reach their goals on their path to recovery.

Visits take place in the Trails building dining room (or specified area).

You and the patient can buy food from the food cart in the Trails building dining room.

Kirkbride Plaza

​Patients in the Trails building can also visit the Kirkbride Plaza. It has a café, vending machines, a market and a clothing shop. Each unit has designated times during the week for visiting the Kirkbride Plaza.

General Information

​The Bridges program is made up of three units-Bridges 1, Bridges 2 and Bridges 3, and four cottages located on the hospital campus that function as group homes. You will find in-depth information about the program in the Bridges program patient handbook.

Trails Building, Patient's Unit

​The Trails building on the Salem campus is home to three Crossroads units: Flowers 1, Leaf 1 and Tree 1.

Visits take place either on the patient’s unit or in the Trails building dining room.

Patient's Unit, Portland

​Oregon State Hospital's Portland campus is home to three Crossroads units: P1A, P5A and P6A.

Visits with adults take place on the patient's unit.

​Visits with minor children (under age 18 years) take place in the campus chapel. Please see more information about visiting a Crossroads patient at the Portland campus.
