Fuel Use by Type, (2018-2022)

This chart reflects fuels used by type for light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles, and vehicles used in lawn care such as mowers.

This report includes only agencies using over 7,000 gallons of fuel annually. Agencies using less than 7,000 gallons per year do not report.

Agencies continue to use gasoline blend fuels as the main fuel type. Agencies began using renewable diesel starting in 2020. Electricity has also started to play a small, but growing role, as agencies buy hybrid and electric vehicles. Both renewable diesel and electric vehicle use resulted in cutting GHG emissions.
