Family Connections

Introduction

Research shows that inmates with strong family ties and support networks are more likely to succeed upon release. Studies also show that children of incarcerated parents are five to six times more likely to become incarcerated than their peers.

The Oregon Department of Corrections (DOC) is committed to improving practices and policies that support family contact and strengthen parent-child relationships. DOC offers many programs and activities designed to encourage positive and productive connections between families and adults in custody.
