Family-Focused Programs and Events

Department of Corrections facilities across the state offer many family-oriented programs and events. Positive relationships play an important role during incarceration and throughout the reentry process, and families are encouraged to participate in opportunities to stay connected.

Some examples of programs and events loved ones may be able to participate in include:

Enhanced Family Visiting

Game nights, Halloween trick-or-treating, holiday crafts, Father’s Day BBQs, and other events designed to bring families together. Availability varies by facility.

Annual Powwows

Facilities host yearly Powwows that allow Native American adults in custody and their families to gather and celebrate culture and tradition.

Family First BBQ

A summer BBQ event held at Oregon State Penitentiary that allows families to connect and spend meaningful time together.

Girl Scouts Beyond Bars

A program at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility that helps strengthen relationships between mothers in custody and their daughters.

Graduation Live-Stream Events

Some adult in custody graduation events are now available through live-streaming. Not all events are able to be live-streamed. If a live-stream is available, the graduating adults in custody will be notified in advance so families have time to register.
