Talking Books at the State Library is a FREE Braille and audio book library for any Oregonian with a print-disability, which means a person cannot read standard-size 12pt print for long periods of time comfortably.  Eligibility for our library includes legal blindness or other visual impairment, physical impairments, or reading impairments like dyslexia or aphasia.  To register a student with our library, just download a copy of our application using the link below and submit the completed application once signed.  We do not require any additional paperwork.  Applications can be submitted by: mail, fax, or email.  Visit our registration page for more information.

Summer Reading

Talking Books is a proud participant in Summer Reading!  Each year there is a theme, incentive prizes, and grand prize drawings.  Sign-up today and side-step the "Summer Slide."

Oregon Battle of the Books

Each year students from across Oregon participate in the Battle of the Books event, and students wtih print disabilities can enjoy reading these titles as well.  Talking Books has many of the titles on each year's list in audio or in Braille, and if we don't have a title we can help you connect with sources that do.
