Left photo: Oregon Community Trees board member Mike Oxendine holds one of the ginkgo seedlings he grew from seeds collected in Hiroshima. The seeds came from trees that survived the atomic bombing of that Japanese city in 1945. This and other seedlings like it were planted around Oregon in 2020 and early 2021 to mark the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II and encourage peace.

Right photo: Caring for the Hiroshima peace trees for the past year has been Oregon Community Trees board member Jennifer Killian (pictured with one of the seedling ginkgos) and her colleagues at Corvallis Parks and Recreation.
