Oregon communities planting Hiroshima peace trees in 2020​

Twenty-six Oregon communities plan to plant Hiroshima peace trees in 2020 through a combined effort by the Oregon Department of Forestry, Oregon Community Trees and the One Sunny Day Initiative. The list does not include four places in Oregon which have already planted Hiroshima peace trees: Eugene, Hillsboro, Lake Oswego, and Oregon State University in Corvallis. The full list includes:

Photo: Oregon Community Trees board member Mike Oxendine holds one of the ginkgo seedlings he grew from seeds collected in Hiroshima. The seeds came from trees that survived the atomic bombing of that Japanese city in 1945. This and other seedlings like it will be planted around Oregon in 2020 to mark the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II.
