This section of U.S. 395 is busy, fast-moving, and continues to grow. It includes several closely spaced intersections and has a history of crashes – especially those involving left turns. Two locations in this stretch are ranked among the state’s top safety concern sites.
This project aims to reduce crashes and improve safety for everyone traveling through the area. The corridor will use a restricted crossing U-turn (R-cut) design to improve safety and traffic flow.
Left turns and through movements will be restricted at key intersections, including six public roads and one major commercial driveway. Some left-in movements may also be restricted.
Raised medians and traffic separators will block direct crossings. Four U-turn locations (two in each direction) will be built within the two-mile stretch to accommodate commercial vehicles.
