 Details

County:  Deschutes

Nearest City:  Redmond

Estimated Cost Range: $0 - $10M

Anticipated Construction Years: 2027 - 2029

Project Description

There is a missing section of a shared-use path on Oregon 126, from Evergreen Avenue to Oasis Village on the east side of Redmond. The missing section makes walking and biking difficult. ODOT will infill the missing section by constructing a 1.3 mile shared-use path with enhanced pedestrian crossings and ADA features.

The completed project will make it safer and easier to use the entire path, will connect the residents of a transitional housing site to the city's core, and will help people get to important places in the city safely and comfortably.

The project is consistent with ODOT's Transportation System Plan to remove barriers for bicyclists and pedestrians and supports the city's plan to create a connected network of trails that everyone can use. The new path will also encourage more people to walk or bike instead of drive.

Expected Outcome

Pedestrians and cyclists will have a dedicated path, providing extra space between them and highway traffic in an area where vehicle-pedestrian conflicts occur.

Community Benefits

Access

Enhanced bicycle and pedestrian routes.

By filling in the missing 1.3 miles of shared use path, community members will have an interrupted connection to safely walk, roll or bicycle from their home to the city’s core to access businesses and essential services.

Enhance travel options for people who walk, roll, use transit, or bicycle.

For community members who don’t have access to a car and depend on transit, walking or biking, this new connected pathway will make it easier to connect them to services they need.
