NEVI is a federal program that funds public DC fast charging stations along major roads in all 50 states. It's a five-year program funded by a federal law passed by Congress in 2021.
Each state was given a set amount of federal funding under the NEVI program; Oregon received $52 million. By law, states can only use the funding for public EV charging stations.
The ODOT Climate Office runs Oregon's NEVI program as a competitive grant program. We contract with private EV charging companies to install and operate the DC fast charging stations. (ODOT does not install, operate or maintain public EV charging infrastructure.)
