Oregon State Rail Plan

We're updating the Oregon State Rail Plan, which is the state's long-term plan for freight and passenger rail. 

We appreciate you taking the time to visit our online open house and learn about the plan!

At this online open house, you can:

  • Learn how Oregon's passenger and freight rail network benefits the state.

Did you know? 90% icon

Private companies own and operate 90% of Oregon's rail system. 

ODOT partners with railway owners to ensure rail is safe, efficient and serves all people in Oregon. Learn more about ODOT's role and authority.

We don't own any rail lines. Improvements to a rail line must be approved by the owner.

Amtrak operates on 489 miles on BNSF and Union Pacific lines in Oregon.
