Oregon’s Impaired Driving Prevention Program Assessment - February 3 - 4, 2026

The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), in partnership with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), is completing a comprehensive assessment of Oregon’s Impaired Driving Prevention Program. This assessment aims to identify challenges and opportunities to strengthen efforts to reduce alcohol- and drug-impaired driving and the resulting crashes, injuries, and fatalities on Oregon highways.

A team of national subject matter experts has been evaluating Oregon’s impaired driving prevention systems since fall 2025. Their work will conclude with a series of panel interviews with Oregon stakeholders on February 3 and 4.

The Governor's Advisory Committee on DUII shall broadly represent the Legislative Assembly, public and private organizations involved in DUII countermeasures, victims of impaired drivers, and the general public. Persuade communities to attack the impaired driving problem in a more organized and systematic manner, including plans to eliminate bottlenecks in the arrest, trial and sentencing process that impair the effectiveness of many impaired driving laws. Generate public support for increased enforcement of state and local impaired-driving laws. Educate the public as to the dangers of driving while under the influence and its effects on life and property."
