Refunds

Fuel tax refunds may be applicable when motor vehicle and use fuel is used in equipment, for driving on private roads, or special situations.
  • Refund claims must be filed within 15 months from the date of purchase or invoice.
  • How you store or obtain your fuel changes the record requirements; refer to the refund tutorial.
  • Include all tax-paid fuel invoices with your claim.
  • A portion of the aircraft state gasoline tax is transferred to the Oregon Department of Aviation.
  • The state return rate as of January 1, 2016 is $0.19.
  • Refunds are not allowed for pleasure boats.
  • Tax collected transfers to the State Marine Board for use in boating safety, law enforcement and facility use.

Submitting a Refund

Refunds are submitted online through the Oregon Fuels Tax System. If you are a first time user, you will need to register with the system. Paper requests will be mailed back to sender.

Jurisdictional Refunds
