About the Project

Safety improvements start in 2027

The Astoria-Megler Bridge connects Oregon to Washington. Roughly 9,225 vehicles cross the bridge on average per day, including 508 semi-trucks.

Heavy traffic and de-icer application during snow and ice events have damaged the driving surface on the Oregon side of the bridge.

With this project, we plan to replace a portion of the driving surface to give you a smoother drive and help reduce ongoing maintenance costs. We will:

  • Fix and replace the damaged driving surface.
  • Replace the existing bridge rails with new ones to meet current standards while keeping a similar look.
