Anticipated Construction Years: 2027 - 2029

Project Description

The existing culvert that allows Jim Creek to go under U.S. 101 is damaged. The bottom of the pipe has deteriorated and the joints have separated. Damaged culverts can allow water to wash away the soil that supports the road and lead to settling or sinking pavement, cracks or potholes, or roadway collapse in severe cases. These effects can make the roadway unstable or unsafe and lead to highway closures.

Expected Outcome

This work will replace the existing culvert with a new one that meets Oregon’s current fish passage standards and requirements.

Community Benefits

Climate

Managing water flow and minimize flooding and erosion.

This work will allow for higher stream flows during heavy rain and storm events. This work will help keep the highway from flooding.

Improving fish passage.

This culvert does not currently allow adequate fish passage. The new culvert will allow better fish passage and meet full fish passage requirements.
