Project Description

In 2016, the culvert under Oregon 202 at Crosel Creek failed during a high-water event. We made temporary repairs and are now returning to install a new culvert. This project will improve drainage and accommodate fish passage.

We kicked off this work in 2018 by designing the permanent culvert as a shelf project. We’ve identified construction funding and are proposing it for the 2027-2029 biennium.

Expected Outcome

We will replace the existing culvert with one that meets Oregon’s standards and requirements to stabilize the embankment and improve fish passage.

Community Benefits

Climate

Managing water flow and minimizing flooding and erosion.

The surrounding area will be more stable and water will flow under the highway more easily. This work will help keep the road open during future storms and high-water events.

Safety

After the culvert is replaced, we’ll repave the road and install permanent striping and guardrails. The road will be smoother and easier for drivers to see their lane.
