Impacts

Traffic Impact

Crews will be working during the day and night—we will maintain one travel lane in each direction during the day. At night the contractor has the option to close lanes, leaving one travel lane controlled by flaggers open.

Through traffic on OR 99W can avoid most delays by planning ahead and using the Newberg-Dundee Bypass (OR 18) to get around construction.

All businesses can be accessed by right turn in and right turn out.

Weekly Update

There won't be any night work for the remainder of this week (through the 19th).  Next week the crews will be installing storm sewers using excavation and other equipment.​


Pedestrians, including those with disabilities, will have access through or around work zones.

About

Interactive Project Area MapPlanned roadway improvements will give motorists a smoother ride. Installation of new sidewalks and streetscape will make it safer for pedestrians and bicyclists using OR 99W. 

We will:
  • Rebuild a section of roadway.
  • Repave the road in the project area.
  • Construct ADA ramps.
  • Install new sidewalk.
  • Add pedestrian crossing improvements.
  • Install street lighting.
  • Replace and improve drainage features.
  • Landscape the water treatment areas.

Details on the work being done is broken out below.

Entire project area - 1st Street to Parks Drive:
  • Roadwork/new pavement.
    A portion of the road will require a full depth rebuild where we will need to dig out and replace the road foundation. The entire project area will get new pavement.
  • New LED lighting.
    There are some locations that already have foundations for the poles and some where both the foundation and the pole with be installed.
  • Stormwater improvements.
    There will be streetscaping and improvements to drainage throughout the project area.
From 1st Street to 5th Street:
  • Build sidewalks.
    We will install sidewalks in the sections of the roadway shoulder that do not currently have sidewalks. 
  • ADA work.
    We will install curb ramps and improvements.
5th Street to 12th Street:
  • 9th Street - The pavement in front of entire curb will be fixed to correct the slope and bring it up to ADA standards.
12th Street to Parks Drive:
  • Build sidewalks.
    We will install sidewalks in the sections of the roadway shoulder that do not currently have sidewalks. 
  • ADA work.
    We will install curb ramps and improvements.
Various locations for utility work throughout the project:

Relocation of city water main.
This work will result in a temporary interruption of water service. We will not know the duration and timing of this interruption until after the project starts. Advanced notice will be given to the residents and businesses that will be impacted.

Relocation and installation of new underground utility conduits.
This work may result in interruption of service but we will not know the duration and timing until the project starts. Advanced notice will be given to the residents and businesses that will be impacted.​
