About
The work will pave the remaining 0.7 miles of trail and build two new bridges over Perham and Mitchell creeks. Both bridges will be consistent with the historic look and feel that people know and love about the Columbia River Gorge.

|
Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail.
Cost and Funding
$7.5 million for this phase of the project.
Benefits
Paving the 0.7 mile gap will complete nearly 10 miles of continuous car-free trail for people walking, biking, and rolling in the Columbia River Gorge between Wyeth State Park and the Mitchell Point Tunnel. To complete this trail segment, we laid the groundwork by finishing the Viento State Park to Mitchell Point project in 2023, which paved the trail from Viento State Park east toward Mitchell Point, and finished the Mitchell Point Tunnel in 2025. More information about our work reconnecting the Historic Columbia Highway State Trail is available in our 2025 Progress Report.
Additional Information
Over the next several years, we have many construction projects planned on I-84 between I-205 and Hood River, and on the Historic Columbia River Highway between Troutdale and Hood River.
