Individual Reinstatement

Overview

Individual architects with an inactive Oregon Certificate of Registration may apply for reinstatement if the registration has been inactive for five years or less.

Reinstatement Eligibility Requirements

Individual architects may apply for reinstatement if their Oregon Certificate of Registration has been inactive for five years or less.

If the registration has been inactive for more than five years, applicants must reapply through:
  • the Registration by Examination process, or 
  • the Registration by Reciprocity process. 

Continuing Education Requirement

Applicants must provide proof of completion of the continuing education requirements established in:

Reinstatement Process

Applicants should complete the following steps before submitting the reinstatement application.

Step 1 — Complete the Application

Complete the Individual Reinstatement Application.

Step 2 — Gather Required Documentation

Applicants must provide:
  • proof of continuing education completion, 
  • and any additional required supporting documentation. 
Additional documentation may be required depending on applicant disclosures or prior registration history.

Step 3 — Pay Required Fees

Applicants must pay:
  • the Individual Architect Reinstatement Application Fee, and 
  • the Certificate of Registration Reinstatement Fee. 

Payments may be submitted:
  • online, or 
  • by check payable to Oregon State Board of Architect Examiners (OSBAE). 

Step 4 — Submit the Application

Applicants should keep copies of all submitted materials for their records.
Applications remain valid for 12 months from the date received by the Board.

Additional Instructions

Disclosure Requirements

If applicants answer “Yes” to questions regarding:
  • disciplinary actions, 
  • criminal charges, 
  • or the provision of architectural services before registration, 
additional information and documentation must be provided.

Architectural Firm Registration Requirement

Architectural firms providing architectural services in Oregon must also maintain registration with the Board.

Oregon statutes and administrative rules governing the practice of architecture in Oregon are available online.

Applicants are encouraged to review all applicable statutes and rules before submitting reinstatement applications.

Important Notice

Eligibility Limitation

Use the Individual Reinstatement Application only if the Certificate of Registration has been inactive for 5 years or less.

If the registration has been inactive for more than five years, firms must reapply through the standard Architectural Firm Registration process.

  • Application Fee: $100 
  • Certificate of Registration Reinstatement Fee: $400 
  • Total Fee: $500
