Individual Architect Renewal FAQs

Individual architect registrations renew every other year.

Expiration depends on whether your registration number is odd or even.

Yes. Oregon registered architects must satisfy continuing education requirements prior to renewal unless exempt during the first renewal.

Continuing education (CE) requirements are part of the individual architect renewal process.

Unless this is your first renewal, you must complete:

  • a minimum of 24 hours of Health, Safety, and Welfare (HSW) continuing education
during the current two-year registration period before renewing your registration.

See Continuing education requirements under:

You do not submit continuing education (CE) certificates or records during the renewal process.

During renewal, you will answer questions confirming that you completed the required continuing education hours.

Registrants are responsible for:
  • maintaining their own CE records, and
  • retaining documentation showing compliance with continuing education requirements.
Examples of acceptable documentation may include:
  • certificates of completion, or
  • transcripts.
If selected for a continuing education audit, you will be required to submit proof of completed CE hours.

Additional information is available under:

Following the individual renewal period, OSBAE conducts a continuing education audit.

In April, a percentage of registrants may be randomly selected to provide proof of completed continuing education.

During the renewal process, you will answer questions regarding CE completion. By submitting the renewal application electronically, you are confirming that:
  • the information provided is complete and accurate, and
  • all continuing education requirements have been satisfied.
Providing false or inaccurate information may result in disciplinary action.
