Renewal for 2022 has now closed. Any licenses that were not renewed by March 31, 2022 lapsed on April 1.
Renewal for 2024 will be available in January 2024.
Licenses are valid for up to two years, and expire on March 31st of even years.

Renewal is completed online through the Licensee Portal.
You can complete renewal on a computer, tablet, or smartphone.
The Online Renewal Process
Renewing online has several components, including:
- Submitting proof of the Continuing Competency courses taken, including mandatory requirements. See this page for more information.
- Updating your contact information, work information, and adding any new information about your other licenses.
- Attesting to the renewal declaration questions, and providing any required documentation.
- Completing the OHA Healthcare Workforce Survey.
- Payment of all non-refundable renewal fees.
You may start and stop the process between each screen of the renewal- your progress will be saved.
To prepare for your online renewal, we suggest that you gather digital versions of all required documents- specifically, all of your certificates for Continuing Competency. If you only have hard copies, you can take photos of the documents on a smartphone and upload the photos. Additional tips on documentation can be found on the Continuing Competency
Not Planning to Renew?
If you are not planning to renew your license, you do not need to complete a renewal application or contact the Board. Your license will automatically lapse after its expiration date. You will have up to five years to renewal a lapsed license, and specific requirements for renewal will depend on how long your license has lapsed. Please see this page

If you have or are planning to retire or no longer work in Oregon, please be sure to update your licensee account to update your place of practice information with an end date and update any other contact information that may have changed via the Licensee Portal.
The Oregon Board of Physical Therapy does not have an Inactive or Retired license type.
Important Note Regarding Email:
You’ll need to login to the Licensee Portal using the email address that the Board has on file for you. If you no longer have access to this email account, or if you’re not sure what email address the Board has on file, contact Board staff by email to verify or update your address.
If you have multiple email addresses, please try all of them before contacting the Board.
Because changes in your employment or student status may change your access to employer or university email accounts, we strongly encourage licensees to use a personal email address for their account.
Additionally, several email providers are blocking emails from state senders, including Providence, Hotmail, Comcast and MSN. Unfortunately, we have no control over this. If you have one of these email providers and you do not receive a confirmation email after submitting a renewal or application, or after trying to reset your password, please contact the Board to provide an alternative email address.
