Oregon’s 211info financial wellness hub, a signature centerpiece of Treasury’s financial empowerment initiative, just got bigger and better – and Oregonians statewide are reaping the rewards.

“Oregonians now have a more comprehensive financial wellness resource hub through the accessible 211info network,” said Treasurer Read at the April 2 meeting of Treasury’s Financial Empowerment Advisory Team, coinciding with the start of Financial Literacy Month.

The expanded and improved statewide Financial Wellness clearinghouse boasts a mobile-friendly design and more than double the listings of financial literacy and consumer protection resources, including new links for housing, foreclosure relief, disability-connected programs and insurance information.

The site was first launched in 2021 and was one of the first actions recommended by the Financial Empowerment Advisory Team, which brings together leaders from nonprofits, government and the private sector to boost the visibility and viability of financial empowerment efforts statewide.

Across the country, Treasurers increasingly are championing financial literacy in their respective states, yet no two programs are identical. Oregon is the first state to partner with a 211 helpline system to better connect the public to tools, information, counselors and service providers.

The 211info network also helps the Financial Empowerment Initiative toward its goal of enhancing accessibility and equity in financial education, because translation services are available in 30 languages.

It is free for nonprofits to list themselves in the database, and easy to use for the public. Visitors can search for resources statewide, or in their communities. The collection of resources includes links to financial and debt counseling, credit building services, low-cost bank and credit union accounts, and student loan repayment resources.

In addition to nonprofit links, Oregon’s 211info network connects visitors to various Treasury programs like OregonSaves, the Oregon College Savings Plan, and Oregon’s Unclaimed Property Program.

The database also helps Treasury improve coordination among state agencies, who can list their financial empowerment-connected services. Several organizations participated in the conversation about the expanded menu, among them the Bank On Oregon Coalition.

Nonprofits interested in sharing information through the 211info financial wellness hub are encouraged to contact the organization through their 'Partner With Us' webpage.
