Overview
The 2011 Oregon Legislature approved $40 million in lottery-backed bonds for the ConnectOregon IV program as part of HB 5036. Building on the success of the first three authorizations in 2005, 2007 and 2009 ConnectOregon IV will continue to improve the connections between the highway system and other modes of transportation.

ConnectOregon funds are being distributed to air, marine, rail, transit and other multimodal projects statewide. No less than 10 percent of ConnectOregon IV funds must be distributed to each of the five regions of the state, provided that there are qualified projects in the region.

Applications

The application period closed Nov. 21, 2011. The applications received were reviewed for completeness and feasability by ODOT staff. There were 65 applications that met eligibility criteria.

ODOT has now forwarded qualified applications to modal and regional committees for review and public input. In late spring 2012, a Final Review Committee will prioritize its recommendations for funding and forward them to the Oregon Transportation Commission. An OTC public hearing on the recommendations will be held soon after that.

ConnectOregon is a key strategy for ensuring Oregon’s transportation system is strong, diverse and efficient. Through multimodal investments around the state, ConnectOregon aims to improve flow of commerce, remove delays and enhance safety.
