Oregon Government Ethics Commission
The Oregon Government Ethics Commission (OGEC), established by vote of the people in 1974, is a seven-member citizen commission charged with enforcing government ethic laws. Oregon government ethic laws prohibit public officials from using office for financial gain, and require public disclosure of economic conflict of interest. The OGEC also enforces state laws which require lobbyists and the entities they represent to register and periodically report their expenditures. The third area of OGEC jurisdiction is the executive session provisions of public meetings law.

2009 Quarterly Public Official Disclosure
The filing requirement for the Quarterly Public Official Disclosure (QPOD) reports fell victim to the passage of SB 30, but that bill did not make its provisions effective until January 2010. In an attempt to correct the issue, a provision was added to HB 2518 to change the effective date. We are not anticipating any problems with the bill, but nothing is certain until it reaches the Governor's desk for signature. We hope to hear something very soon, but again, cannot give you a definitive answer at this time. The reports are not due until July 15, so there will still be a time window for submitting the reports following session end, if necessary.
