Firewood helps heat your home and fuel your campfire. ODF offers firewood cutting permits on state forest land. Firewood cutting dates and prices vary by location. Be sure to call your local district office for the latest updates on where, when, and how much you can cut. Permits are often first-come/first-served, and not issued during fire season or in active timber sale areas. Remember to be safe and always go prepared.
Firewood cutting is also permitted on other public and private forestlands. Contact the US Forest Service or the Bureau of Land Management for more information. Please note that gathering wood for personal use while camping in Oregon's state forests is allowed without obtaining a permit.
