New board positions

Effective Jan. 1, 2026, there will be two additional board positions on the Building Codes Structures Board:

  • Fire protection engineer
  • Structural engineer, registered under ORS 672.107, specializing in the design of residential buildings more than three stories above grade

The Building Codes Structures Board helps the director of the Department of Consumer and Business Services administer the structural program, prefabricated structures program, certain energy programs, and the accessibility to people with physical disabilities program described in ORS 447.

Submitting public comments and testimony

Verbal testimony

To sign up in advance to provide verbal testimony at a board meeting, please email the boards coordinator. Instructions for providing testimony will be sent to you. The length of your testimony is at the discretion of the board and is usually limited to a few minutes.

Written testimony

Please email written testimony to the boards coordinator at least 24 hours before the meeting. Include your name, organization, and the related agenda item.
