Current Rulemaking Activities

The Board adopted amended budget and fee rules in May, with these going into effect on July 1, 2025. See the About the Board page for details including the public comment record for this rulemaking.

The Board currently has a rulemaking proposal out for public review. The Board is proposing to make amendments to numerous rules, adopt one new rule, and repeal some rules. The proposal includes amendments to rules addressing many aspects related to the Board and the regulation of the landscape architecture profession including procedural, education, examination, fees, registrations, and continuing education. Public comment is being accepted through 5:00 PM on 10/08/2025. There will be a virtual rule hearing on this same day at 1:00 PM for those that prefer to provide oral comment. Written testimony can be submitted to the Board office without needing to attend the virtual hearing. The following documents are provided to assist the public in consideration of this rulemaking proposal:

  • Notice of Proposed Rulemaking filed with the Secretary of State, which shows details of the proposed amendments and contains information on how to submit comments. This is the official notification of the proposed amendments.
  • A clean version of how the rules would read if all the proposed amendments are adopted by the Board. This document is provided to assist the public in its review of this rulemaking proposal but is not the offical notification.
  • A summary document providing a high-level overview of the proposed amendments. This document is provided to assist the public in its review of this rulemaking proposal but is not the offical notification.
  • A table that illustrates pathways to registration as would exist if the proposed amendments related to education and work experience for registration were adopted by the Board. This document is provided to assist the public in its review of this rulemaking proposal but is not the offical notification.
