Board Invites Public Comment on Rulemaking Proposal

The Board conducted a comprehensive review of its administrative rules and identified a need for numerous amendments to existing rules, one new rule, and repeal of some rules. The Board now seeks public comment on this rulemaking proposal. The rule amendments proposed range from housekeeping updates and clarifications to amendments that are more substantive. The most substantive amendments proposed would streamline the examination process, expand upon pathways to registration, clarify standards for registration, address known implementation issues with continuing education requirements, adopt a process and fee for review of petitions related to past criminal convictions as required under Oregon law, and update how the Board addresses registration for military members and their spouses/domestic partners as required under federal and Oregon law. The public comment period is open through 5 PM on 10/08/2025. There will also be a virtual rulemaking hearing on this same day at 1:00 PM for those that prefer to make an oral comment instead of a written comment. Attendance at the virtual hearing is not required to submit written comment. Documents providing details about this rulemaking proposal can be found on the Laws and Rules page of this website.

Individual registrations can be managed using the Registrant Portal; this includes for contact information updates, renewals, and reinstatements. Business registrations can be managed using the Business Registration Portal; this includes for contact information updates, changes to Registered Landscape Architect in responsible charge, and reinstatements. See the publications page of this website for video tutorials covering how to use these 3 portals. The public can lookup registration information for individuals and businesses in the Public Register and file a complaint online through the Complaint Portal.
