COVID-19 Public Health Emergency

In response to guidance from public health officials, OSLAB is not providing in-person services at its office at this time except by prior appointment. This is in accordance with guidelines for protecting public health and also due to potential workforce limitations tied to the COVID-19 public health emergency. Some OSLAB services can be completed online, and most can be completed via email or phone, thereby eliminating the need for most in-person visits to the OSLAB office. Please contact OSLAB staff at oslab.info@oregon.gov or 503-589-0093 if you need assistance.

You can access current information about the COVID-19 public health emergency and sign up for email updates about COVID-19 at the Oregon Health Authority website.  Information about assistance available to Oregon small businesses impacted by the emergency can be found at the Business Oregon website.

Board Seeks Public Comments on 2021-2023 Biennial Budget and Budget Rule Amendments

The Board seeks public comment on its proposed budget for the 2021-2023 biennium (July 1, 2021 - June 30, 2023) and on the proposed amendments to its budget rule that would adopt the budget by reference. Public comments will be accepted through April 5, 2021. See the notice to interested parties for a summary of this proposed rulemaking and the notice of rulemaking hearing for more details including revisions to the rule text. A copy of the proposed 2021-2023 budget is also proivided. Contact the Board office with any questions or for other assistance.

Exam Candidates Advised of Changes in Board Requirements

In early February 2021, the Board adopted rule amendments designed to streamline the exam process for the majority of exam candidates. Those exam candidates holding landscape architecture degrees earned from university programs accredited by the Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board (LAAB) no longer need to obtain Board approval before starting the national exam process. These exam candidates can now go direct to the national exam provider, the Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards (CLARB) to start the exam process. Other candidates must still first apply for a Board approval before they can sit for exam. Exam candidates are encouraged to review the Qualify and Apply for Exams page of this website for further details. Note that the Board has NOT changed the requirement for completion of the national Landscape Architect Registration Examination (LARE) as its exam standard for registration as a Landscape Architect.

Scam Alert for OSLAB Registrants

The attached flyer provides a proactive warning about a potential scam targeting individuals holding professional registrations. Read for tips on how to recognize scams involving requests for registration-related payments or sensitive information. The Board will not ask for payments or sensitive information over the phone, by email, or by text. The Board encourages its registrants to contact the Board office if ever faced with a question about whether a phone call, e-mail, or other request is legitimately from the Board.
