The DLCD regional representatives (reps) are a vital link to the local communities around the state. Each has broad knowledge of land use planning in specific geographic areas, as well as department rules and procedures. They help local officials and the public better understand the statewide planning goals, and related land use rules and regulations in Oregon. The reps participate on the Governor’s regional solutions teams as key participants focused on problem-solving and solution-oriented projects.
Regional Solution Centers
The Governor's approach to community and economic development recognizes the unique needs of each Oregon region and the importance of working locally to identify priorities, solve problems, and seize opportunities to get projects done. State resources are aligned throughout Oregon to achieve these goals through Regional Solutions Advisory Committees, Centers and Teams. This alignment serves and supports the unique economic and community development needs of each region.
Regional Solutions Centers (RSC) are located throughout Oregon to align investments in support of regional priorities. Five core state agencies – the departments of transportation (ODOT), land conservation and development (DLCD), environmental quality (DEQ), housing and community services (OHCS) and business development (OBDD/Business Oregon) – co-locate their regional staff in these centers to form Regional Solutions Teams (RSTs). The Governor's Office provides coordination for these teams. RSTs work collaboratively on projects to address priorities, and they serve as quick responders to emerging issues. This community-based strategy has been very well received by both local governments and the business community.
