Children & Families
Readers under 18 who are blind, have low vision, or have a physical or reading disability that prevents their use of regular print materials can enroll in Talking Books. Once enrolled they can download books and begin reading right away using BARD or the BARD Mobile app, or get audio books or hard-copy braille books delivered by mail free of charge.
From dinosaurs, mummies, and wizards to family, friends, and school—the library collection includes more than 60,000 books for young readers on a countless variety of subjects.
Enrollment
Children under 18 will need the Parental Acknowledgement portion of
their application signed by a parent or guardian.
Current and back issues of our student-focused newsletter are available to read online.
The Talking Book and Braille Library is a proud participant in Summer Reading! Each year there is a theme, incentive prizes, and grand prize drawings. Sign-up today and side-step the "Summer Slide."
Each year students from across Oregon participate in the Battle of the Books event, and students with print disabilities can enjoy reading these titles as well. Talking Books has many of the titles on each year's list in audio or in Braille, and if we don't have a title we can help you connect with sources that do.
