We offer downloadable Talking Books, magazines, and eBraille through BARD (Braille and Audio Reading Download).
1. Sign up for BARD
To access BARD (Braille and Audio Reading Download), you will need to complete a separate
application for a BARD Account.
2. Using BARD Mobile App (on a device)
Once you have an account, download the BARD Mobile app. You will need to login the first time you use the app, but it should remember your information after that.
Searching
- Click the "Get Books" tab, the click "Search."
- Enter search terms like title, author, keyword, subject, or book number in the search box, and BARD will search across all categories.
- Use unique terms, correct spelling, and book numbers for better results.
- You can also filter results by category.
Downloading
- Click the blue arrow icon to download a book
- If you are using an Android device, you will need to do an additional step of selecting a folder for downloads. It will default to a folder called "Audiobooks" unless you specify otherwise.
- Once you've downloaded the books, they are located in the "Bookshelf" tab.
3. Using the BARD Website (in a browser)
Searching
- BARD has a simple search box that allows you to search by title, author, keyword, subject, or book number.
- Tips for searching include using unique terms, ensuring correct spelling, and searching by book number for more accurate results.
- Search results can be filtered by category to help find specific books faster.
Downloading
- After logging into BARD, select a book and download it.
- Once the download is complete, extract the file and transfer it to a flash drive or blank cartridge.
- Safely eject the device and plug it into your player to listen.
- To switch between books, use the player’s "bookshelf" feature.
