About the study

We're creating safer, more connected routes

We’re working with Benton County to plan shared use paths that make it easier and safer for people walking, biking and rolling in north Corvallis and nearby communities.

As part of this effort, two new bike and pedestrian bridges are in development to improve key connections:

  • A bridge over Jackson-Frazier Creek near OR 99W, which will support the Corvallis to Adair Village Path.
  • A bridge over OR 99W and the railroad, providing a critical link between the Cheldelin neighborhood and Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.

These bridges and shared use path will help reduce barriers, improve access to essential destinations and create safer crossings for people to travel car-free.

This project is part of a larger vision to build a connected system of shared use paths linking neighborhoods, parks, schools and services throughout the region. It supports key goals in local and regional transportation and trail plans. We're developing this pathway in collaboration with Benton County, the City of Corvallis, Greenbelt Land Trust and others. Your input helps us guide the design process, making sure the pathway we create works for you and your community and can be enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities.

Here's what we've done so far:

  • Started the project in spring 2025.
  • Evaluated alignment alternatives in summer 2025.
    • Held the second key interested party meeting with agency staff and local partners to review and provide feedback on alignment alternatives.
    • Held the first in-person and online open houses, where community members provided feedback on options.
  • Presented to the County Board of Commissioners in October 2025. The board reviewed the alternative analysis memo, including the open house summary from summer 2025. They directed the project team to move forward with designing the north-south path on the east side of OR 99W.
  • Developed the path design from November 2025 through March 2026.
    • We completed a land survey to locate property boundaries and better understand the project area. We also analyzed different bridge types.
    • We created options and analysis for the east leg approach.
    • We held another key interested party meeting with agency staff and local partners in March 2026 to get feedback on the preliminary design for the bridge and path.
Now we want to hear from you again! Take a look at the rest of this online open house to learn more about the recommended concept design for the bridge and path. Don't forget to share your thoughts by filling out our survey.
