New Frontage Road Between Allen and Denney

New Frontage Road Reduces Merging Conflicts

The new southbound frontage road connecting the Allen Boulevard and Denney Road interchanges is now open. The frontage road, in conjunction with the new auxiliary lanes, will reduce the amount of merging on the highway which reduces crashes and increases safety and reliability in the area. The interchanges at Allen Boulevard and Denney Road have been some of the worst congestion locations on OR 217. The two interchanges were very closely spaced, which led to merging conflicts and crashes.

The frontage road is southbound-only and is located adjacent to the highway. It works similarly to the frontage road to the north connecting Canyon Road and Beaverton Hillsdale Highway. We also widened both the Allen Boulevard off-ramp and the Denney Road on-ramp to accommodate the increased traffic on those two ramps.

What’s changed:
  • The Allen Boulevard southbound on-ramp to OR 217 and the Denney Road southbound off-ramp from OR 217 now operate as part of the new frontage road.
  • Use the frontage road to travel to OR 217 south from Allen Boulevard.
  • Use the frontage road to travel to Denney Road from OR 217 south.
Drivers can still access Allen Boulevard, Denney Road, and OR 217 south using the frontage road.

Using the New Frontage Road

  • For drivers heading to OR 217 south from SW Allen Boulevard: Use the frontage road to travel south and merge onto the highway via the SW Denney Road southbound on-ramp.
  • For drivers heading to SW Denney Road from OR 217 south: Use the SW Allen Boulevard off-ramp to the frontage road. Use the new frontage road to travel south to SW Denney Road.
