New Frontage Road Between Allen and Denney

New Frontage Road Reduces Merging Conflicts

We built a new southbound frontage road connecting the Allen Boulevard and Denney Road interchanges. The frontage road, in conjunction with the new auxiliary lanes, aims to reduce the amount of merging on the highway which reduces crashes and increases safety and reliability in the area. The interchanges at Allen Boulevard and Denney Road had some of the worst congestion on OR 217. The two interchanges were very closely spaced, which led to merging conflicts and crashes.

The frontage road is southbound-only and is located adjacent to the highway. It works similarly to the frontage road to the north connecting Canyon Road and Beaverton Hillsdale Highway. We also widened both the Allen Boulevard off-ramp and the Denney Road on-ramp to accommodate for the increased traffic on those two ramps.
