Oregon Heritage Conference

2022 Oregon Heritage Conference:
The Power of Heritage
April 27-29, Virtual

The power of heritage has never before been made so clear as it has in recent times. In 2020 we had planned to inspire heritage organizations at the conference, to help you realize and enact your organization’s power within your communities. Instead, you blew us away with your proactive actions, your steadfastness, and most of all, your resilience. From proactive collecting for historic events, providing information about similar historic events, responding to civil unrest, saving historic sites form fires, to just surviving financial uncertainty. You harnessed the power, now let’s embrace it and multiply it.

Join us in 2022 as we explore ways in which heritage preservation empowers communities, uncovers untold stories, preserves history in the making, creatively engages audiences, and proves its value.

UPDATE: On Jan. 20 Oregon Heritage staff made the decision to transition the conference from in person to virtual. See our message on this decision here.

ATTENTION CONFERENCE REGISTRANTS! If you have not received communication about how to log into the conference sessions, please first check your email spam folder. If you do see anything in your spam folder, email kuri.gill@oprd.oregon.gov.

Looking forward to seeing/hearing you all later this week!

Thursday Plenary Speaker: Vu Le

Vu Le is the author of the NonprofitAF blog which uses humor and insight to explore topics related to nonprofit management, culture, fundraising, diversity, community engagement, and more. He is the former Executive Director of RVC, a Seattle nonprofit that promotes social justice by developing leaders of color, strengthening organizations led by communities of color, and fostering collaboration between diverse communities. He will provide his thoughts on how organizations can re-imagine their structure and provide some advice on how organizations can get serious about board diversity.

Friday Plenary Speaker: Willie Richardson

Willie Richardson has been doing history in Oregon for decades, she has presented for and collaborated with a variety of organizations around the state and was one of the founders of Oregon Black Pioneers. Ms. Richardson will share her personal perspective on heritage work in Oregon. She will reflect on changes over time and the value of collecting and sharing the broad stories of Oregon’s history.
